Working on your hands and knees for hours on end can do a harsh number on your back, neck and knees and laying brick pavers is no small task.
Dutch Company Vanku VB has developed a semi-automatic vertical brick and paver laying machine, called Tiger-Stone, that keeps your workers off their hands and knees and increases their productivity. With machine width options of 13’, 16’, and 20’, the company claims that with this machine, a 2 person crew can lay at least 3,230 SF of pavers per day. It’s estimated that the conventional method of brick paving only produces 800 to 1075 square feet per day.
The process is simple: 1 to 2 guys stand on the platform behind the Tiger-Stone and feed the bricks or pavers into the desired pattern, the machine slowly moves backwards and lays the bricks on the ground. The handy bucket in front of the layers allows a loader to drop a bucket full of pavers in it for the layers to constantly have a supply.
