As you may know, Construction Junkie’s annual Best Construction Podcast competition is underway for 2019.  Starting this year, I will be publishing an in-depth article about each of the competition’s nominees.  What better way to start than with last year’s contest winner:  CONEXPO-CON/AGG Radio?

CONEXPO-CON/AGG Radio has been hosted by construction industry veteran Peggy Smedley since its inception in 2016.  You probably also recognize the title of the podcast, as it’s associated with the huge industry trade show of the same name and presented by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM).  The next CONEXPO-CON/AGG trade show will be held in March of 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Recent episodes of the podcast have been published on a monthly basis and clock in around 25 minutes in length.  The show is a very structured interview with industry professionals in and around the construction heavy equipment sector. It only makes sense to focus in that area, as their trade show focuses much of the same.

The show isn’t just about equipment though, many episodes focus on technologies that can help contractors become more efficient and safe, whether it’s on or off of a piece of equipment. Recent episodes have featured representatives from Zonar, a telematics company; Uptake, an Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things company; and SmartEquip, a fleet management software company.

CONEXPO-CON/AGG Radio is certainly a well-produced and informative podcast and one that’s absolutely worthy of being a past winner of Construction Junkie’s Best Podcast Competition.  If you’re interested in construction technology and heavy equipment, we suggest you give it a try.
