Four Quick Tips for Keeping Your Excavators in Good Working Condition

Excavators are a vital piece of equipment on many construction sites all over the world.  They’re also very expensive machines that deserve to be treated well.  They’re also the 3rd most commonly stolen piece of construction equipment.

Volvo Construction Equipment recently released a quick, 60-second video, which you can watch below, on a few simple checks to get the most out of your excavators:

  • Track tension – Make sure the track isn’t too tight or too loose

  • Drive Sprockets – The drive sprockets should be at the rear when moving the excavator

  • Oil and water – Like other engines, they need the proper amount of coolant and engine oil to properly operate.

  • Filters – Change your engine oil and fuel filters every 500 hours
