Summer is officially upon us, which many states seeing temperatures in the 90s and 100s.  While heat exhaustion may not be the only summer dangers on construction sites, it does play a major role in overall health and wellness throughout our hottest months.

Klein Tools, best known for their extensive line of electrician’s tools, has recently released a brand new lineup of cooling products to help keep contractors comfortable on the jobsite. Included in this release are 6 different products:

Cooling Do Rags

The Cooling Do Rag is designed to fit under a hard hat, a ball cap, or by itself.  Made of performance fabric, it has the ability to wick away sweat and also includes a terry headband for sweat absorption. These machine washable do rags are sold in 2-packs and are available for around $10.

Cooling Headbands

The headbands have the ability to be “activated” by soaking with water, wringing out the excess, and snapping the bands 3-5 times, providing additional cooling effect.  Also designed to be worn under hard hats, ball caps, or by itself, these bands are reversible and machine washable.  The Cooling Headbands are sold in 2-packs and are available for around $10.

Cooling Helmet Liners

The helmet liner, designed to be worn under a hard hat, can be “activated” just like the cooling headbands mentioned above.  When activated, these liners will provide cooling of up to 30 degrees below body temperature. When wet, the liner will also wick away sweat for up to 2 hours. The design also incorporates mesh at the top of the head for breathability. Each liner is sold separately and available for $10.

Mesh Cooling Towels

The mesh cooling towel provides a cooling effect for up to 3 hours once activated.  Each towel is 39” long by 9.5” wide and are made of an evaporative mesh material.  The mesh towels are sold in a 2-pack for $10.

Cooling PVA Towels

The PVA Cooling towels are similar to the mesh towels, but the PVA material is touted to have better absorbent properties and can stay cool for hours. Also sold in a 2-pack, the PVA towels measure 13” by 29.5” and are available for $10.

Neck and Face Cooling Bands

The newest addition to Klein’s cooling lineup is the cooling neck and face band.  As most jobsites should be requiring face masks, this cooling option could be a great solution for staying in compliance while also battling the heat. No activation of this product is required, just wet it down and it stays cool for hours. There are many different ways that this versatile band can be worn, as well, in addition to the face mask: full head and neck covering, headband, full head cover, neck band, ponytail holder, etc. The machine washable bands are sold individually for $10.
