It’s no secret that people like to be the biggest and the best.  Companies and workers in the construction industry are no different.  While areas like the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are building gigantic structures at an incredible rate to increase their tourism, the United States is again left behind, which has been a trend in the past couple decades.

The below infographic highlights 8 of the largest projects currently under construction.  One (Saudi Arabia’s Jubail City) is set to complete this year, but another (China’s South-North Water Transfer) is not scheduled to be completed for another 35 years.  Talk about job security. Unsurprisingly, the UAE has 3 of the 8 largest projects: Dubailand, which plans to be 3 times larger than Walt Disney World; Saadiyat Island, which encompasses 10.4 square miles (27 square kilometers); and the Yas Island Complex, which will cover 9.6 square miles (25 square kilometers).
