Would you rather just simply eat your lunch or make your lunch shake in its little lunch boots as you devour it? That’s what we thought. Why use some standard, throwaway plastic cutlery, when there’s a jet black tactical spork with a hidden serrated knife in the handle?
KA-BAR, the hardcore knife manufacturer, has recently released the only spork that I’ve ever thought was cool looking. Made of high strength Grilamid, a high strength and food safe plastic material, this spork/knife combo is as tough as plastic cutlery gets. The tool is 6.875” in total length with a 2.5” knife inside the handle and weighs in at 1 pound. When you’re finished, clean it up and use it for lunch the next day. Just don't try to bring it on a plane or in a government building, they don't think hidden knives in sporks are cool.
Back in June, Milwaukee hosted its annual New Product Symposium (NPS), a media event featuring hundreds of new products that they planned to release throughout the year and Construction Junkie was in attendance. Just when we thought we were done seeing all of the new tools after several hours of presentations and hands-on time, Milwaukee threw a curveball at us.
Chances are, if you’ve ever had a smartphone, you’ve heard of Otterbox. It was one of the original rugged phone protection cases on the market and they’re available in retailers throughout the country. What you may not know, however, is that Otterbox has a case system for business solutions, which makes your phone even more useful with a host of different accessories.
Drones are used for a variety of different tasks on construction sites, like for tracking employees, calculating the volume of on-site stockpiles, or even performing OSHA inspections, but I’ve never actually seen any tools attached to them before. Well, engineers recently strapped a nail gun to one to see if it could potentially perform roof shingle installation.
For the past few years, tool manufacturers have been making cordless tools possible that no one thought could be done. We now have battery powered table saws, 12” miter saws, even battery powered pipe threaders. But one thing that no one has done yet, until now, is a battery powered worm drive circular saw.
If you are looking for the right scaffolding for your construction project, you will need to consider the choice of scaffolding available to you. However, there is one type of scaffolding that is chosen for a number of different projects because of the benefits that come with it. This kind of scaffolding is Mobile Scaffolding and regardless of whether you are working on a roof or working on the brickwork of a building, they are often a great choice.
For years, Milwaukee has made it very clear that they will continue to keep their M18 platform as their core system. Cordless tool users spend a ton of money into batteries these days, and the company’s goal is to not force them into investing into a new cordless system. That means that Milwaukee has to come up with innovative ways to provide the tools users want while being limited to 18 volts.
In 2015, Milwaukee announced the release of their digital tool tracking platform: ONE-KEY. The company has since released dozens of ONE-KEY enabled tools to manage them using Bluetooth, an inventory management system, and tool reporting functionality. Yesterday, the company announced several enhancements to the platforms inventory and reporting interfaces.
The team at Tool Box Buzz (TBB) is at it again with another super comprehensive tool comparison video and, this time, their focus is on 4-1/2” to 6” angle grinders.
Summer is officially upon us and beating the heat will keep you healthy and productive. There are many summer dangers on construction sites, but OSHA maintains that water, rest, and shade are the most important factors to avoiding heat illness. Here are a few products to help keep you and hydrated on your jobsites this summer.
Last week, Milwaukee Tool hosted dozens of construction media representatives at their headquarters for their yearly New Product Symposium (NPS). Over 100 new products were announced in the one day event and Construction Junkie was there to catch a glimpse of what is to come from the red brand over the next year.
