The team at Tool Box Buzz (TBB) is at it again with another super comprehensive tool comparison video and, this time, their focus is on 4-1/2” to 6” angle grinders.
The last comparison video TBB released was for benchtop thickness planers, back in March. That was about 4 months ago, but it’s totally understandable when you realize how many man hours TBB puts into these tests.
Cordless angle grinders are an extremely versatile tool for many trades, as they can cut and grind metals, concrete, stone, and masonry, among others in an efficient manner. There are, of course, larger grinders currently available than 4-1/2” to 6” versions, but the smaller grinders are certainly more widely used.
For their testing, TBB evaluated 9 different cordless angle grinders, all between 18 and 22 volts:
Each tool was evaluated in several categories: features, runtime, performance (speed), ergonomics, and price. Certainly the most interesting test was the rebar cutting speed test, because it featured one of TBB’s elaborate jigs that, by itself, makes the whole comparison worth the watch.
In order to get the exact same cut force for the test, the team affixed a 7 pound weight on a string and attached it to a sled that would feed the grinder through the 5/8” rebar at a consistent speed.
I’m not going to spoil which tool was the winner of the comparisons, so I suggest you either watch the full video below or check out TBB’s full article.

Last summer, Hilti announced that they had developed their first exoskeleton designed for construction tradespeople in a partnership with Ottobuck, a prosthetics, orthotics, and exoskeleton provider. Earlier this month, Hilti officially released the exoskeleton, announced more details, and published its retail price on their website.
