NIOSH Finds Simple Solution to a Common Hazard

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has recently published a new study that finds a low cost solution to harmful silica dust. Inhaling silica dust, which is commonly found in fiber-cement siding, can lead to a lung disease called silicosis, which is deadly.  While silicosis is preventable now, it's estimated that 100 people still die from it each year.

Contractors use a lot of tools and sometimes those tools end up getting lost or stolen.  It's widely estimated that 93% of stolen property is ever recovered and the vast majority of that is motor vehicles.  Many contractors never take the time to document the tools and equipment they buy, but now there's an app that not only makes it easy to document your company's assets, but also employs a crowd-sourced effort to help you recover the items.
