Well, it seems like no car is safe around a construction site these days. In recent videos we’ve shared, we’ve seen two cars get destroyed for blocking a construction exit by an angry wheel loader operator and another car destroyed by a falling wall of a building being demolished. Today, there’s this video of a skid steer operator picking up a legally parked SUV and moving it out of the way, for some reason.

We’ve recently learned that parking your car where it blocks a construction entrance can get your car smashed into a pancake, but now it appears that merely parking next to a construction site can do the same.

It’s no secret that it’s much easier to create heat than to remove heat, which is probably why no one has created a “reverse microwave” yet. It’s also one reason why there is only a small amount of clothing and accessories built around cooling people off outdoors, especially those who work in the construction industry. Sure, you can install some fans around the job site, but they only help workers when it’s blowing directly at them. Now, a Japanese company is releasing their personal cooling jackets and hard hat fans to US customers and targeting the construction industry.

Every time a person digs a hole, a little tiny part of them hopes that unbury an ancient buried treasure. Don’t even act like you don’t. It’s the ultimate dream to dive into a pile of money like Scrooge McDuck. Chances are, you played with some type of construction toy when you were growing up, whether it was a plastic set of hammers and wrenches, or a classic Tonka truck. After you graduate from toy dump trucks and backhoes, heavy construction equipment gets a little too expensive and dangerous for just anyone to play around in them…or does it? Diggerland XL doesn’t think so.
Diggerland XL is a new addition to Diggerland USA, which is a kid’s construction theme park in West Berlin, NJ. The original kid’s park has rides and attractions all centered around construction equipment, like navigating a skid steer through a course, or bowling with a mini-excavator (that sounds super fun). Other rides and events include a spinning ride that seats you in the bucket of an excavator, an excavator merry-go-round, a mini-excavator treasure hunt, the world’s fastest backhoe and a heavy equipment stunt show! Here’s a video showing many of the attractions of the original park.
So what’s in store for the adults at the new Diggerland XL? Full sized construction equipment and an open playground to do some damage. After you choose between a wheel loader, an excavator, and a bulldozer, you’ll be given 30 minutes of instruction and up to 2.5 hours of “Adult Play Time.” So now, you don’t have to bug your buddies at work that get to drive all the cool toys and risk everybody’s life on the job site. Prices of the XL package range from $199 to $349, but it also includes access to the Diggerland USA attractions. Heck, you can even plan your next milestone birthday party there (Who’s turning 40 in the near future? You know who you are.) Here’s a cool video of the adult theme park:
Even if you’re not interested in the XL package, it still seems like a super fun place to bring the kids.

As you’re probably aware, falls are the leading cause of construction job site casualties, because if landing from the fall itself doesn’t hurt you bad enough, there’s a good chance that you’ll fall onto something sharp. Just last week, we shared an article last week about a construction worker in India who was impaled though this stomach by a piece of steel rebar and survived. This week, we learned about a man in Saudi Arabia that suffered a fall and landed on a nail that was sticking up through a piece of wood.

Heavy construction machinery is not supposed to fall over, but when they do, it causes a lot of damage. The video below, shared by LiveLeak, shows a concrete mix truck falling off of an under construction ramp roughly 15 feet above. It’s believed to be the video originates in Thailand, but we’re not able to confirm that.

Recently, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released a list of job salaries of 19 construction jobs that only required a high school diploma or equivalent. It was interesting to see the wide range of median pay within that group ($78,620 for elevator Installers and repairmen vs. $30,190 for a general construction laborer and helper), but many of the construction trades were left off of the list. Now, the NCCER has released the results of a 2015 survey, which lists the average salaries of 31 construction trades.

There have been plenty of demolition failures in history, no matter how easy strapping a bunch of explosives to an empty building may seem. This demolition might just break the record for delayed collapse, however.
