Nominate Your Favorite Construction Podcast for Best of 2018!

Best Construction Podcast 2018

It’s that time again to begin Construction Junkie’s annual search for the best construction podcast!  I've noticed an influx of new construction podcasts since our last podcast competition ended in June of last year, so I'm excited to find out who will come out on top.

Last year, two-time Best Construction Podcast nominee The Lien Zone, a construction law focused podcast hosted by Miami lawyer Alex Barthet, took the top crown.

In 2016, newcomer to the scene ConTechTrio, which has been recently renamed the ConTechCrew and focuses on construction technology, was voted best podcast.

Both of the last two winners are still running strong, but I imagine they'll face much more competition this year with all of the newcomers.

The Grand Prize

Last year, we decided to step our game up a little bit and offer a prize to the contest's winner. That will continue this year and the winner will once again receive FREE sidebar ad on ConstructionJunkie.com for one full year! That will help your favorite podcast gain hundreds of thousands of impressions every year.

What’s a Podcast?

Podcasting is becoming a serious media contender across all sectors and the construction industry is beginning to catch onto the trend.  According to The Podcast Consumer 2017 Report, 24% of Americans older than 12 years old listened to a podcast in the past month, most of them within the 18-54 age range. Those are serious numbers and it highlights a huge opportunity for experts and entertainers to find their unique audience.

If you’re unfamiliar with podcasts, think of them as a Netflix for radio.  Consumers download episodes of their favorite shows to their phone or tablet and can stop are start episodes as they please.  There are shows for just about any interest you might have, including comedy, pop culture, murder mysteries, and construction.  Apple users can find podcasts in the iTunes store, whereas Android users will need to download 3rd party apps, such as Podcast Addict, to listen.

Contest Rules

Nominations can be submitted from now until Midnight PST on Friday, May 4, 2018. At that time, no more nominations will be accepted. Podcasters are more than welcome to nominate their own podcast and self-promotion is encouraged. Nominations will be researched and any deemed to not be related to the construction industry by our staff, will be removed.

After nominations close, voting will begin.  Voting will be open for 2 weeks from the day the polls open, date to be determined.  Winner, by popular vote, will be announced shortly after poll is closed.

Back in 2015, engineers at MX3D made a huge announcement: they were going to 3D print a steel pedestrian bridge on-site.  That plan has been altered slightly in the nearly 3 years since the announcement, but the group recently completed printing the full span of the bridge.

Dropbox Targets Construction, Forms Partnerships with PlanGrid, Others

Once upon a time, Dropbox was a place to store your files on the cloud.  Now, users are demanding much more collaboration with their files and their teams, so Dropbox has been evolving to meet those needs. Much like other technology companies in Silicon Valley, Dropbox has taken note of the opportunity for growth that the construction industry offers due to general unwillingness to adopt new technologies in the past. The company recently announced that they are forming partnerships with several construction technology companies like PlanGrid and Aconex.
